Wild greens have far more nutrition than anything we can buy in the store, and they will grow for us in abundance in our own backyard if we just allow them to.

Janet Phillips, owner of "My Nature" had started letting her plants grow in her backyard 13 years ago and now she has about 100 plants that grow willingly and happily for her to enjoy, and learn from!

The wild green drink is a sample of what is possible.

  • Violet- has 5 times more vitamin A than spinach and lots of vitamin C

  • Dandelion- Vitamin A and C and calcium (the kind our body can easily absorb)

  • Plantain-  high in vitamins A and C, and is an antibacterial. Rumor has it that if you eat three leaves a day, the bugs will stay away!

  • Lambsquarters- According to Linda Runyon, it's the second most nutritious plant in the world! Check out her book; Survival Acres and other great books by her.

  • Mint- contains lot's of iron

  • Thistle- Minerals are packed in these

  • Yellow Dock- again high in vitamins A and C

  • Lemon balm- Good for colds, flu and your brain.

It is not recommended that anyone just go and pick and eat plants from their backyard without 100% positive identification as there can be harmful lookalikes. We all can have a real appreciation for how this world will support us if we just take the time to get to know it. After all, isn't that why we're here?
